Marengère Design created for its client Terrapub a series of transactional portal-type websites whose objective is to encourage visitors to become members.
Terrapub is a membership program that proposes to site owner webmasters to monetize their visitors by posting advertisements related to their content on their sites. When a visitor clicks on the advertisement, he or she is referred to the program’s website and is invited to become a member. When new members join, a certain percentage of sales proceeds is handed over to the webmaster that referred the visitor. The membership program proposes a large number of thematic sites in order to cover as many areas of interest as possible, including travel, plants, cars, romantic relationships, etc.
For this project, we developed different portal-type sites providing users with a portion of free content to pique their curiosity, as well as a pay-for-use member section with more content. In order to access this members-only content, visitors must obtain a unique code by calling a 1-900 number or by paying with a credit card. The design of membership sites requires a sales-focused strategy, which in turns influences the layout of the web page’s elements. The content is presented in order to encourage visitors to pay to obtain further information. Marengère Design was put in charge of the web design and integration of all those sites.
